First full day in Amsterdam!
I started the day with a run through Vondelpark, in an effort to shake off yesterday’s foul mood. It was such a beautiful way to start the day – the light in the park was stunning, and it was nice to be amongst the locals on their morning commute. So many bikes!
After breakfast at my hotel, I set out to explore the Jordaan district and the nine streets shopping area (De 9 Straatjes!). Hooooly moley it was beautiful. Rows upon rows of canals, tree lined streets, and the cutest shops and cafes I ever did see.
I wandered further to Haarlemmerstraat, and my day just kept getting better! My favourite of the stores I visited was Restored – a gorgeous little boutique selling ceramics, accessories, stationery… Everyone just go there and check it out, ok?!
I grabbed some sweet treats from Stach (SO GOOD!) for the walk home, and headed back to the hotel to rest my aching feet. (Don’t walk 10km in Converse, yo!)
After an hour or so of recovery / email checking, I headed out towards Vondelpark again. This time I stopped at Marqt for some delicious Dutch groceries, and at the bike shop to hire a bike. An afternoon of cycling / picnicking / reading ensued!
Getting an early night tonight and meeting Dee & Davey in the morning at Anne Frank House…
