Day 9 – Amsterdam

Today was GLORIOUS!

Dee, Davey & I had planned on visiting Anne Frank house this morning, but realised too late that we needed to prebook online. We met there anyway to see if we could get in, but no luck… Hopefully I’ll be able to book a ticket for later in the week, eep!

So it was just me and my bike for the day! The weather was magnificent. Amsterdam sure does shine in the summertime.

I headed out to De Pijp first – an area I’d be wanting to check out. I started with Albert Cuypt Markt, Amsterdam’s largest outdoor market. It was nice to wander through… Then I visted Coffee & Coconuts, a 1920s cinema-turned-cafe I’d heard a lot about. The coffee was terrible, but the atmosphere was excellent!

Next it was onto Winkel 43 for a slice of their famous apple pie (yep, delicious!), then a visit to Friends of Art – a recommendation from my client Annabel, a fellow stationery fiend. The most amazing collection of postcards, displayed like records in a record store!

By this time I was overheating a little… I can’t believe how warm it is! I swung by De 9 Straatjes again and picked up a skirt from Cos.

And ended the day with a little reading time in Vondelpark, before returning my bike!

Glorious! Today felt like one of those I’ll-remember-this-forever days. Amsterdam was definitely meant to be explored by bike. And what a novelty to have cycled around town all day and not have helmet hair!

Tonight I’m meeting Annabel & Mitch (whose wedding I’m shooting in France next month) at De Foodhallen!
