Day 31 – Paris

One month in. That happened so quickly. So wonderfully, thrillingly quickly.

So far it’s been every bit the eye-opening, exciting experience I’d hoped for. I’ve been faced with many of the challenges one would expect as a solo female traveler… (Don’t freak out mum, I’m fine. Let’s just say I have enough material to consider writing a passive aggressive feminist memoir.) There have been some really special moments shared with people I’ve met along the way… Moments when I’ve felt a little lonely… But overwhelmingly there have been moments when I’ve felt extreme levels of pride that I’m managing (dare I say it, relishing) being on my own. I can’t wait to see what the next few months will bring.

Today I arrived in Paris. My god, this city. It’s like a dream. I got in at 4:30pm this afternoon, and I’ll be leaving at 7:30am tomorrow on a train bound for Avignon. I know I’ll be back in a matter of weeks, but I was desperate to explore. So I dropped my suitcase in my hotel room and raced out the door as quickly as I could. My first stop was the boulangerie, obviously. Un croissant et une baguette s’il vous plaît! With my French baked goods (still warm!) tucked away in my tote bag, I wandered along the Seine. Passing by Notre Dame, the Louvre, Grand Palais, all the way to the Eiffel Tower and back again… Yep, this city has won me over already.
